Important features of office copiers
While digital copiers have a lot of in- built features, here are the typical features that you should definitely look into when buying a photocopier:
Page feeders
Feeders feed a page to the machine to copy. Two common variations among feeders are:
Paper trays
As the name suggests, the paper tray holds the paper that will be used for making copies. Problems associated with trays include paper being jammed in standard paper trays--- a common occurrence in fact. In such a case a bypass tray helps provide a straight path to avoid jams. Two important aspects that must be considered when evaluating paper trays are:
Paper supply
Paper sources can usually hold a minimum of 250 to 550 sheets with the largest capacity being 3,000 sheets. Every paper feed unit operates as a separate paper source. If you require copies to be made on different sources such as: letter size paper, legal size paper, ledger paper or transparencies you can opt for multiple paper feed sources to benefit your copying requirements without manually reloading the machine.
Memory
Most copiers have enough memory to aid operation of all basic functions. You must consider increasing memory if you want your copier to perform additional functions such as page numbering; scan once, print many; etc.
Automatic Shut-off
This option, available with most copiers, helps save energy and reduces pressures on a copier by turning the machine off if it is not in use for a specified period of time.
