Phone systems & VOIP systems Blog
Coms Plc., a leading provider of VoIP business phone systems in the UK,  has announced the launch of Coms VoIP DECT(Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications). Using repeaters and additional base station, this fully wireless version will provide customers with crystal clear voice within an area covering 100 meters to 64 sq. kilometers.

The best part of Coms VoIP DECT is that it is fully customizable. The improved handset battery give up to 150 hours stand by and 10 hours of talk time. The phone system also provides features of call hold, call transfer, voice mail, etc. that are now becoming regular features of business phone systems.

The system uses base stations, which is well connected to Internet and installed at the user’s location. Working as a bridge between a telephone handset and the Coms server, these base stations deliver a wireless signal to the handsets. Since it is an Internet-based service, it can include many locations in the same network providing good business communication.  With an increased mobility and easy installation facility, it provides all the services that one expects from an excellent business VoIP system. The installation of Coms VoIP has reportedly reduced telephone bills of a client by half.

Thing5, a leader in providing next-generation hosted voice solutions has certified the TeleMatrix 3300IP phone after full testing with its telecommunication platform. The 3300 VoIP phone is designed specially for the hospitality industry.

Designed for hotel guestroom VoIP application, the 3300IP phone features a large faceplate area and guest service key options. An added feature is the TouchLite one-touch voice mail retrieval facility. Thing5's hosted PBX solutions already offer many unique features like wake-up call management, call accounting and other additional features like unified messaging platform to allow guest room call to be further forwarded to cell phone or voice mail, etc.

According to John Barron, the development Director of Things5,  it is good that TeleMatrix’s 3300 VoIP’s ability to work with Thing5’s SIP trunking platform had been verified so quickly. He expected clients to benefit as a result of deploying the SIP trunking services from TeleMatrix with its own advanced telecommunication technology.

The benefits of a VoIP phone system are now well accepted, as can be seen with the increasing adoption of such phone systems. Yet, for those who are not certain if a VoIP phone system is for them should consider reading a recent whitepaper from VendorGuru that not only explains the benefits but also shows several case studies.

Stefania Viscusi has excerpted the whitepaper in a recent article. The key benefits that she points out, based on the whitepaper, are:

a) Cost savings in terms of phone sytem hardware

b) Improved productivit, as workers may be able to put in greater work hours

c) Reduced  overhead costs- thee is no cost of physical office location as well

A VOIP phone system can also contribute to streamlining of operations. As she writes in her article, "Also, with a VoIP phone system, businesses benefit from an improved system that is more efficient and can streamline operations. With a single, unified communications system, the business is able to lower hardware costs or eliminate them completely with a hosted solution. Also, maintenance costs and responsibilities are reduced as IT can make changes across the board from a central dashboard or leave it in the hands of the hosted provider to handle.

User productivity can also be increased with a VoIP phone system as users located remotely can access and share information with coworkers instantly, regardless of where they're accessing the system. And with IP, workers can utilize different communications methods, such as IM, voice or video and Web conferencing, as needed."

Tpad is introducing a managed IP PBX phone system targeted at SMEs looking to upgrade to a VoIP phone system without investing a lot of upfront costs. With its new solution, the company hopes to be able to compete with leading enterprise VoIP telephony companies in the UK.

The Tpad Pro solution offers a low cost start up package with monthly billing and a choice of VoIP / SIP handsets. Each phone system is custom configured, and includes auto-attendant, voicemail, call forwarding, caller ID, speed dial, and several other powerful features.

The VoIP phone system can be used to connect multiple remote offices anywhere in the world and provides support for WiFi mobility and tele-working for home users, thus providing a unified calling experience for all parties.
Any service or technology that shakes up the status quo is bound to have its own set of critics and VoIP phone systems are no exception. There are enough doubters around who question whether businesses can indeed depend on a VoIP phone system. The primary cause for doubt? That such a phone system is entirely dependent on the Internet, and if the Internet connection goes down, there is no phone system to talk about. Can a business really afford such a risk?

Certainly not, but the question in many ways is representative of the "half-empty, half-full" syndrome. How does one really want to view it? Negatively, and saying that the risks are simply too much to use a VoIP phone system, or positively, saying that there is some dependence on the Internet, but Internet connectivity is continuously improving worldwide and therefore, the reliability of a VoIP service is bound to improve as well? Are traditional phone systems have absolutely no downtime? Are they immune to occasional breakdowns? If not, and we have accepted that, there is no reason why a VoIP phone system cannot gain that same acceptance.
