UK-headquartered CompAir has launched the Quantima oil-free variable-speed air compressor that uses innovative centrifugal technology in the US. Compressed air is the ‘fourth utility’ after water, electricity and gas, and is used by thousands of manufacturing and process companies throughout the country. This compressor range can apparently cut compressed air energy bills by almost one-fourth and results in significant reduction in carbondioxide emissions. The technology used is expect to drive down costs for companies while also reducing downtime and downtime and increase productivity.

The key aspect of the compressor design the Q-drive compression assembly that has only one moving part spinning in a magnetic field. Its unique rotor and direct-driven compression elements are levitated by active electromagnetic bearings to allow them to reach speeds of up to 60,000 rpm.
